All Rise...Judge Eure Visits Copeland

Judge Geraldine Eure was born in Trenton. When she was a child, she went to Grant and Cadwalader Elementary Schools—just like you go to elementary school now! She later went to Holland Middle School and then graduated from Trenton Central High School.  After high school, she went to a college called Mt. Holyoke in a small town in Massachusetts, where she studied history because she loved learning about the past. Then, she went to New York City to Columbia University, where she studied law to become a lawyer. Judge Eure worked as a lawyer for the IRS (that’s a federal agency that helps with taxes!) and then for a utility company in New York City called Con Edison.  In 2017, after she retired from her job, the Mayor of Trenton appointed her to become a municipal court judge. That means she helps people in Trenton solve problems and make fair decisions in court. Judge Eure is the only female municipal court judge in Trenton—and when she started, she was the only one in all of Mercer County!  Judge Eure loves her job because every day is different, and she gets to help people and make sure everyone is treated fairly.

Judge Eure visted Copeland on Monday, June 2nd and explained her job to all of our 3rd grade girls.  Theyry intrigued and had many questions for her.  Judge Eure encouraged them to reach for the stars and they can be anything they choose to be!
